UWLA School of Law WINS 2017 Roger Traynor Moot Court Competition
Dear Alums and students,Congratulations to Professor Glassman’s UWLA Moot Court Team of Knarik Boyadzhyan and Stephanie Trice.
UWLA School of Law has won the 2017 Roger Traynor Moot Court Competition. UWLA students Knarik Boyadzhyan and Stephanie Trice were victorious in the Final Round of the oral argument competition today, defeating a team from McGeorge Law School. The championship round, held on the McGeorge campus in Sacramento, was presided over by Associate Justice Ming Chin of the California Supreme Court. The UWLA team advanced to the Final after winning both of their preliminary rounds yesterday, including a defeat of UC Hastings in one of those rounds.
The Traynor competition is a nationally recognized appellate moot court competition and has been in existence for over 40 years. Only judges and certified specialists in appellate law are eligible to serve as oral argument judges at the annual event. This year's competition also included teams from UC Berkeley School of Law, UCLA School of Law, UC Hastings, Loyola Law School, McGeorge School of Law and Pepperdine University, among other institutions.
Ms. Boyadzhyan and Ms. Trice have not only distinguished themselves by their performance, they have also brought great distinction to UWLA. Although UWLA students have previously excelled at the competition, this is the first time a UWLA team advanced to the Final and won the championship.
