Profile In Excellence: Denise Moleah, B.S. Class of 2025 On a Path to Nourishing Minds and Bodies
June 8th, 2023
As a person with a potentially
life-threatening peanut allergy, Denise Moleah has always maintained a keen
focus on food and its impact on the body. This put her on a path to what she
expects to be her life’s work. While working as a Customer Service Plant-Based
Food Specialist at Taco Tu Madre in Westwood, California, she concentrated on
delivering exceptional customer service and providing detailed information
about the restaurant's plant-based menu offerings. Given her peanut allergies,
she confidently assured customers that the restaurant’s food was utterly
peanut-free.
Her restaurant experience reinforced her
passion for plant-based foods, along with her interest in art, inspired her to
pursue a bold career path. She recognized that she would need vital business
education to fulfill her vision.
“After completing my business degree, I aim to
impact the ‘Positive Lifestyle and Wellness’ world,” explained Moleah. “My
vision includes establishing global art galleries that showcase remarkable
artwork and promote health and well-being. These galleries will serve as
platforms for diverse artists while providing visitors with enriching
experiences like plant-based cuisine and live performances. Through this blend
of art, business, and wellness, I envision creating an inspiring and
transformative environment for individuals worldwide.”
Commitment to Higher Education
Denise attended Hampton University in pursuit
of a bachelor’s degree. “This was the beginning of a remarkable educational
journey,” stated Moleah. “I gained valuable knowledge within the enriching
environment of a Historically Black Colleges and Universities institution. It’s
also where I met my husband and formed lifelong connections with classmates,
who became dear friends. This institution served as the foundation for my
spiritual growth and deepened my cultural awareness.”
Following her move to Los Angeles, Denise
committed herself to expanding her business education in order to pursue her
dream. As a person who is passionate about her drive to accomplish tasks and
determined to reach her goals, she recognized that getting a business degree
would be crucial. That’s when she began to search for the right school to
continue her higher education.
“I chose the University of West Los Angeles
(UWLA) School of Business due to its affordability and the fact that the
undergraduate program aligned perfectly with my academic needs and career
goals,” said Moleah. “The institution provided a cost-effective option offering
a comprehensive curriculum and the necessary resources to support my
educational journey. Additionally, the program's duration fits well with my
long-term plans, allowing me to balance my commitments while gaining the
necessary skills and qualifications.”
Finding a Flexible Education Program
to Meet Life Challenges
Another factor in Denise's selection of UWLA
was the flexibility the program offered her. “UWLA’s Distance Learning Program
allows me to effectively manage the unique challenge of helping my aging mother
living in another state,” added Moleah. “The program's flexibility allows me to
travel when needed to visit her while still attending online classes and
completing assignments on time. This enables me to prioritize my family
obligations and academic commitments effectively.”
Set to earn her degree from the School of
Business in 2025, Denise is pleased with her choice. “My experience at UWLA is
really exciting,” stated Moleah. “I have the privilege of learning from
excellent professors who are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about
their subjects. The administrators are great, too. They’re always there to
answer questions and provide assistance whenever needed. Overall, my time at
UWLA has been a valuable and fulfilling experience.”
She believes UWLA has been crucial in
preparing her for her future career by offering opportunities to develop her
skills through unique programs, such as LinkedIn Learning. Through this online
platform, she obtained certificates that enhanced her professional prospects.
During her studies, Denise is already contributing to the local community. “I
am currently offering plant-based food prep courses, sharing free information
on real estate and wellness, and collaborating with my husband on ‘Art Heals’
art exhibitions and workshops for healing and happiness through art,” explained
Moleah.
Denise is a strong advocate of UWLA. “I advise
anyone considering pursuing a degree at UWLA to seize the opportunity and apply
without hesitation,” concluded Moleah. “Stay committed and keep pushing forward
once you take that first step. Remember, perseverance and determination are key
to your success. So, leap and embrace the journey ahead.”
