Biography: Lolita Brown Fletcher, Esq. is a native of Southern California, growing up in the Los Angeles and Inglewood areas. Professor Brown Fletcher spent four years in Orange County while a student at the University of California, Irvine and one year in Washington, DC/Virginia/Maryland areas while completing internships in Employment and Public Interest Law. Professor Brown Fletcher graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles with a Juris Doctorate. She has been a licensed attorney for 26 years. While practicing law, she practiced mostly in the areas of Insurance Defense and Employment Law. Professor Brown Fletcher developed her interest in employment law during law school. She interned for the Women’s Legal Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. and worked for the California Fair Employment & Housing, Los Angeles Office in law school. After working for several small to mid-sized law firms, she managed her own employment boutique law firm for approximately eight years. She represented Fortune 500 Corporations as well as Plaintiffs in employment and insurance defense matters. After twelve years, Professor Brown Fletcher left the practice of law to become the Personnel Director for the City of South Gate. For the next twelve years, Professor Brown Fletcher managed all of the City’s Human Resources and Risk Management functions. In February of 2014, Professor Brown Fletcher retired from her full time position in Human Resources. Since 2014, Professor Brown Fletcher has been serving as a Human Resources Consultant and Real Estate Investor. As a Human Resources Consultant, Professor Brown Fletcher specializes in Employment Investigations for Municipalities. Professor Brown Fletcher has taught workshops and seminars on Interviewing Skills and the Prevention of Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation in the Workplace. She is teaching her first law school course, Employment Discrimination Law, in the Spring of 2017 at UWLA Education: University of California, Irvine. Bachelor of Arts Degree, Political Science. Over those twelve years, I worked for both the defense, representing fortune 500 companies in the food service, oil and defense industries as well as plaintiffs representing significant causes against major corporations. After leaving the practice of law, I went into the field of Human Resources, serving as the Personnel Director for the City of South Gate for twelve years (2002 -2014). As Personnel Director, I managed all employee affairs, benefits, testing, selection and hiring, discipline, labor relations, risk management and assisted the City Attorney in managing employment litigation. Since retiring from the City in 2014, I have served as a Human Resources Consultant, conducting employment investigations. Website: |
